What Home-made toys are safe for my Syrian?

Am afraid I have to agree there, and would take the cotton off before letting a hamster near it.

ooo i never knew that. cotton being a very natural ingredient. i have just read about it on the net. i certainly wouldnt reccoment cotton wool, but i never thought they would react to natural stuffs. i give my hams sheepskin, and real fur when i can get it, they love it and have never ate it. i will take a better look thanks.

I agree too, if the hammy chews it and swallows it, it can cause a serious blockage
