If i were you i think the 20 gallon tank is much better for your money!
I personally think 10 gallon is way too small, my sisters two gerbils have a 20gallon tank and we think its too small, hoping to get something bigger.
But 20 gallon worked really nicely when Treo used it as a holiday cage

20 galls should be alright to lift but more than that you'll get squashed flat XD
i've heard osme people sepcially wid rats , with all glass aquariums they strip the silicon bits off :S i dont know if hamsters woudl do that - well as they'd spend their whole life in there they could if they wanted

Thanks guys. I'm still undecided. Aquariums seem like the best bet because i don't want them coming out or the the bedding falling out either. It still is iffy. If i could buy a ZZ2 in America I would in a heart beat! There is a ZZ on ebay for $80, is this roomy enough for a syrian? Also how do you mesh the top, with mesh and zip ties? Its really hard because $80 is double the amount of a 20 gal aquarium so i might as well just get s cage topper. Are these safe? lol sorry for all the questions goys, thanks for all the help!

there's no risk of the bedding falling out or hamster escape with a bin cage as they're so deep

but the cage topper I made for my tank has been on for over a month now and my hammies are perfectly happy with it and it's very safe

cage toppers are safe (if you make them with mesh beware of sharp corners and edges of the mesh, as mesh can prick!!) especially if you have a *diggy* type ham lol
$80... what is that about £60 ??
is it a zoozone 1 or 2 ? and yeah they're definitly suitable for syrians!!
i am going to mesh my future (dont ask me when lol...) maxi mulys (identical to the zozones) with zip ties and mesh, yeah. its the easiest way. of course you could reinforce it with wire tied around the mesh and actual bars - i think i'm going to do that
in the long run i think a zoozone would be better, as although its expensive its a really great cage and its not so heavey. but then tanks and toppers are a good idea to...
just personally i'd say zoozone
goodluck x
