Nooboo the chinese tails are fascinating as they are actually prehensile like a monkeys tail so they can wind them round things and cling on with them. They are great.

I know this thread is from absolutely ages ago...

But I thought I might as well answer anyway (even though you probably know by now!!)

They are a little bit hairy, but not excessively. Mine has a pink tail with tiny, fine white hairs, and brown in the middle following the line of her stripe...

If you look really closely at this photo, you can kind of see...

The tails aren't freaky at all, it's really funny and sweet when they start wrapping it around your finger

Hehe, i'm not surprised you miss it, it makes me go all gooey when she's climbing about

I'd really love to get more chinese hamsters, but I don't have the space at the moment really, and I'm wary about having more than one in a cage together - bean has bad experiences of living with other hamsters, so I don't think I'd ever want to have more than one in the same cage...

It is a shame as seeing three Chinese cavorting together is lovely, but so much inbreeding in them has maybe not helped their agression as so many people have reported problems keeping their Chinese together in recent years.
