Default Tails on Chinese

From what I have read here Chinese hamsters have long mouse like tails. Mine do not they are just little stubs. Everything else about them matches like the large testicles on the males and the size and coloring. Are tail lengths different among the same species? Or do I have a hybrid of sorts?

Chineseys cannot be hybrids of any other species, hybridization only occurs between Campbells and Winter whites

All hamsters are going to be a bit different. I've seen chineseys with tails so long, they actually could rival that of a mouse! I've also seen chineseys with near to no tail. There's going to be diversity in every species of animal, that's how they evolve and mutations occur. Your hams are perfectly normal

Photos would definitely help, all my chinese hams tails have been similar in length, it is always more than a stub but no way as long as a mouse tail, I've never actually measured mine, some sources say about an inch but I would guess mine are a bit more than that.

Most of my current Chinese seem to have tails of a similar length with the exception of Victoria whose tail is a bit longer than the others and James who has a much shorter tail than the others.

At first I thought it might have something to do with the fact that he's male and his large testicles hid some of his tail but Matthew's tail is noticeably longer. I don't know if it's genetic as I can't remember what the tails were like on James's parents or whether it's just one of those things.

Chinese hamsters have a mouse-like appearance to their bodies, and though their tails are longer than those of other pet hamster species they are nowhere near as long as a fancy mouse's tail.

They are so cute hammys
I gave a family member 2 Chineseys, Miley and Kylie,
Kylie had a normal tail and Miley had a stub of a tail.
Figure that it was a birth defect or she got into a fight?

Nobby, one of my lads, has no tail as it was injured by a female hamster. I've seen other Chinese with no or very short tails after injuries as bottoms/tails are common places for injuries from fights.
