Re: Zylvan, another new man in my life!
Thanks everyone
I must admit I have had a few "4 hamsters? Am I completely nuts?!" moments but I'm totally in love with the little guy already
I left him alone yesterday evening & just watched as he came out for a little run in his wheel, a good forage & lots of time in his sand bath, he loves it in there & even fell asleep in it for a few moments, he looked so surprised when he woke up bless him "Where am I?!"
He's about 14 weeks so not exactly a baby & I think he was more than ready for his own space.
Hamsterita you are quite right, Zeki, Zen & Zylvan are all Chinese & Tinwë is a hybrid, I am a lucky Mum!
Fluffagrams he has the Rodipet potions house which has the water bottle holder attached at the side.
He certainly seems to think his bin is lots of fun!

Eek! He's beautiful, another man in your life Cypher. What a perfect Christmas present.
I would love a chinesy but, I've not seen one up here for a while.
You're making me broody lol!

Re: Zylvan, another new man in my life!
Thanks Lizzy
It is a shame Chinesey's are still so hard to find, the pet shop I've been going to stopped selling them about the same time as P@H & I have no idea why they changed policy but maybe there's hope other shops will too although going by the age I've found them maybe they aren't selling well although how anyone can resist is totally beyond me of course!
With all these men in the house now I think maybe Zen is feeling a bit outnumbered & Zyl is closer to her than the others, she was in a bit of a funny mood yesterday evening, she kept coming to the door ignoring the seeds in my hand & just leaning out looking around, she obviously knew someone new was around as she went back into her nest & sent out a thankfully brief but very pungent message "This is my territory!"
She's fine this morning though & has just quite happily destroyed another pot of sprouts
The little man is staying mostly underground this morning but we did have a really sweet moment earlier when I heard him having a drink & went to talk to him, he hid in the corner under his water bottle for a moment then popped his head out, ears up all curious. I was holding a little piece of nut up to the mesh by one of the shelves & he gradually came closer, dived back underground then a little pink nose appeared at the mesh just under the shelf, it was so cute, the nose was all I could see but I moved the nut & felt the tug as he took it, he stayed a moment or two then vanished again!

Aww lol at Zen destroying the pot of sprouts. She's sniffed it out that Zylvan is another man.
Bless him, his little nose and the nut.

Re: Zylvan, another new man in my life!
That's a good sign that he took the nut from you. I have Angel who I've had for 2 mo who still won't take a treat from me. He must be feeling somewhat safe in order to do that, I would think

I have to agree it is weird, but I think it's because people don't really want them which is a shame I have a 2 year old Dom Spot Chinese Hammy but she will probably be my last one because of the fact no where sells them anymore.
Our P@H doesn't sell them, our P@H adoption centre never has any, even the small independent pet stores never have any. The garden centre I brought my Chinese Hammy from stopped selling them as well.
