Re: The lovely Lewis
Lewis is so clever, he'll be walking onto your hand soon.
Such a handsome boy!

Re: The lovely Lewis
So, I did it! I've lifted a bunch of stills that the camera captured and stitched them together to make a little video of Lewis at night.

Re: The lovely Lewis
Lol I laughed so much that Twinkle came out her coconut to see what the noise was all about.
Thank you Velma and thank the Star of the video - the wonderful handsome Lewis.

Re: The lovely Lewis
Thanks T-Liz I'm quite enjoying making videos at the moment. I was starting to feel a bit bad as I had the photos from the motion sensor cam but never made them into a video for Cleo so I feel a bit better that I did hers before I made Lewis's so all three have them now. I need to start filming more actual Video to edit together like I did for Cleo's cage tour and Lewis settling in, it's good fun

Re: The lovely Lewis
Lol! That's brilliant! He's in and out of the wheel and has quite a circuit. I wondered what the green glow in the centre house was at one point! I guess it was the light catching his eyes.

Re: The lovely Lewis
I did take a lot of footage out of him in his wheel as it was pretty boring. You can see the wheel moving but not really him in it but he does use his wheel more than that suggests. But the circuits do seem to be a chinesesy thing. he uses the wheel for longer at a stretch in the middle of the night.

Re: The lovely Lewis
Good news! A couple of evenings ago I had no choice but to remove Lewis's wheel to give it a proper clean. I've been wiping it down but, as you can imagine, it was pretty grim. Given that Chinese can be a bit timid and hate you for disturbing their lovely housing and he sleeps under his wheel so I'd been putting it off. But hes been getting better at staying out longer with the light on, if I go in a bit later in the evening so I thought, he'll stay out for treats if I do it then. No. That was the evening I timed it wrong, he was in his bowl and disappeared with his pouch full to go and eat. And I could hear little cracking noises from under his wheel. I gently lifted the wheel but a lot of compacted bedding came with it and no Lewis. Eek! Is he in there?! And then I saw him looking up at me from the cage wondering where his bedding had gone. He had a good old run round and i worried I'd spooked him but hurrah! He was just looking for me and a treat! I gave the wheel a clean down and as I was trying to put it back he sat directly under it. Hmmm, this could be difficult I thought. I don't want to squash him. He was sat there so he could get back in the wheel, in fact he was trying to climb into it as it was still hovering above him while I tried to put it down! Eventually, I got it back in place and I half expected him to run and hide but no he just went merrily about his business of running in his wheel and he came and took a seed. I went in yesterday evening expecting him to hide from me but no change to his behaviour. Straight off his wheel and paws up on his tunnel to see what I had for him. What a relief! He's doing well I'd say he's well and truly settled now. And he's grown a wee bit in a couple of weeks so not so teeny tiny. Next stage: handling.

He's doing really well & seems keen to interact with you so I'm sure you'll keep making steady progress now.

What an adorable little baby! How come Chinese hamsters have longer tails?
