Re: The Fluffagrams Hamsters
I often wonder what kind of hamster I'd have got had Stitch not been attention seeking that day, I may never have known the joys of owning dwarf hamsters and for such tiny hamsters they gave a lot of love.
Technically Stitch belonged to my sister and Meat belonged to me but they lived together for just over six months. I'll never forget that tearful phone call from my sister telling me that they'd had a fight and Meat was hurt. Stitch was the dominant one and Meat usually accepted things as they were but I often wonder if that day, he'd got fed up of Stitch bossing him around and retaliated.
Thankfully Meat recovered from his injuries but carried scars for the rest of his days but it could have been a lot worse and for that I am exceptionally thankful.
It's funny, when Meat was alive it felt like there was a little part of Stitch within him so when Meat went it seemed like a part of our hamster-owning history had gone too. I like to think that they were reunited at the bridge.

Re: The Fluffagrams Hamsters
I'm bumping this thread up as tomorrow marks the day when we'd have celebrated the birthdays of Stitch and Meat.
These boys were the hamsters behind the 'fluffagrams' story and they are the reason that I fell well and truly in love with the Chinese Hamster.
Whilst they are no longer with us, I will never forget the joy that they brought to our lives and tomorrow, rather than thinking about what we have lost in their absence, I will celebrate what they have given us.
Happy Birthday boys, celebrate it well at the bridge.

Re: The Fluffagrams Hamsters
Happy Birthday beautiful boys have a wonderful party under the rainbow.
It takes time to reach this point but I know what you mean, looking back does become a celebration & a joy when we remember & appreciate what they gave us.

Re: The Fluffagrams Hamsters
Thank you all. I was working all day yesterday but on my lunch break, I sat there and reflected on some of the key moments in their lives. From falling in love with them at the pet shop, the first time we held them, every birthday and christmas that they shared with us. All fond memories.
I see some of the toys that we'd bought for them, some of which they loved and others they didn't and know that they're glad that we are enjoying spoiling other hamsters as much as we spoilt them.

Re: The Fluffagrams Hamsters
I've just realised the date and it was four years ago today that we got our first Chinese Hamsters.
I've learnt so much in that time. Four years ago I'd only just found out that Chinese Hamsters existed.

Re: The Fluffagrams Hamsters
It's been noticeably quiet since Lady May crossed the bridge and yesterday I really missed her. Normally she'd come out several times during the day and would always come up to the mesh if she knew someone was there. I've still got my lovely little smooshy boy but he's quite quiet during the day.
This is the last photo I took of Lady May and I'm glad that it came out clearly...
This wasn't quite her last meal and she struggled a little bit with it so I gave her a little bit of boiled egg later that evening which she enjoyed a great deal.
