Hi Vectis, (sorry to but in on your thread adeliek). I never knew that about Chinese & wet tail. Other dwarf species can get wet tail though can't they?

Don't think so velma, I'm pretty sure it's only syrians that get wet tail.

Its only syrians that can get true wet tail, all species can get diarrhoea though.

Our chinese all like having things to hide in too, the more the merrier in most cases

Yeah I just did a quick google of the wet tail thing and a couple of hits brought me up with a 'maybe' answer however it seems the cause of this is that many vets have simply misdiagnosed a case of diarrhoea as wet tail in dwarf hamsters and so there is a bit of belief that they can suffer from it lots of a fair few modal auxiliaries are used when the topic is discussed! I'd read that genetically they are more like mice/rats with their slender body, longer tail and longer life span. I know that they technically aren't dwarf hamsters but I can see why they are often put in that category. I had already agreed that more toys were needed gosh and I thought rats were complicated at first!
