Chinese questions!! :)
Hello! My friend Jessy from England has recently gotten a new male Chinese hamster ! I mainly have experience with Syrians so I don't want to tell her anything I'm not sure about.
So anyways, she was just wondering if she could house two male chinese's together. Is there a bonding possess? She would have to get the second one in a week or two (she got the first one yesterday), so would they not get along since the other one would be starting to get used to being alone? Thanks ! ~Sarah

Re: Chinese questions!! :)
You can only keep two chinese together if they come from the same litter, even then they may well fight & need to be separated. It's definitely not a good idea to try to introduce another, strange chinese to the one she has at this stage.
They live quite happily alone.

Re: Chinese questions!! :)
Agreed. Its definetly, definetly best to keep her male single now. Chinese can fall out with no warning at all anyway (like our two - I'm fairly sure I was sat next to the cage when Nimlet bit Scrabble but we didn't hear so much as a squeak beforehand, when the bite occured or afterwards - they were even still cuddling together and everything...)
I'd never introduce a dwarf to another without good reason, the vast majority are happy alone and its far safer to keep them that way - especially with chinese

Re: Chinese questions!! :)
First of all, its great you have come here for some advice
Chinese hamsters are like Syrians in my opinion, 100% solitary. Chinese hamsters do not have the dwarf genus like Robos, Pure Campbells and Pure Winter Whites do who can live together in the correct circumstances.
However, many pet shops class Chinese hamsters as dwarfs due to their size hence the confusion of whether or not they can live together. But really, there is no confusion, they are dwarfs and they should live alone. I would never risk two chinese hamsters together as they can fight to the death which is very traumatic both for the owner and the hamsters!
