Default Tame Chinese Hamsters?

Are Chinese Hamsters fairly social and tame to begin with? I got mine almost 2 years ago, and from what I remember, it really didn't take much work at all to tame her. She began to come up to the cage to say hello after a week or two of having her. The one thing she doesn't do is climb up on my hand, but that doesn't really bother me since she is extremely tame in many other ways, so that is probably just something she doesn't want to do. Are Chinese Hamsters as a species easy to tame, or is it just my hamster? I haven't had any other hamsters, so I don't have anyone else to compare her to.

My boy prefers to hide from me. I can pet him and he's never tried to bite, but he prefers I not stick around. I've had him about a month and he's about 5 mo old. I learned yesterday he loves meal worm so I have a decent bribe now. lol In general, they are shy and timid and take a while to warm up to you. That's probably more so for a petshop ham I'm guessing, than a breeder.

Most (not all) Chinese hamsters can be shy, but bold, if you know what I mean. They need time to settle and eventually turn into charming little friends. My female did anyway! Patience is the key and being gentle. As with all hamsters. Chinese being more likely to shoot up a sleeve or down a t.shirt makes them more mouse-like in behaviour! I love them to bits and would love another Chinese one day, but a male this time as I was lost when my female passed prematurely from passing blood. Took me weeks to get over her loss. x
