Default Sif's thread :)

Yet another P@H rescue ham for me and my OH, Sif has only been with us a few months but we were in love with her from the day we first laid eyes on her.

I felt terrible when I kept popping into the pet store and seeing a beautiful little chinese ham who'd been there for adoption for over a month, she has anxiety issues and no one would take her. We had a spare cage but my OH was adamant that four was enough and we had to leave her. I'd been wanting a chinese for so long and I knew she was perfect for us but I left her as my OH wanted until he finally relented and admitted she had been there a long time and needed a good forever home.

As expected, she was terrified for weeks but recently she's been happily coming out of her shell and started enjoying her out of cage play time with us. If we walk past her cage she comes over to see what we're up to and will trot over to our hands if we put them in the cage. She'll come and snuggle up to us during play time if she gets a bit nervous or sleepy and will happily take treats off us. We're so proud of her progress with us and hope she'll continue to trust us more and more as we bond with her

I'll get some pictures up of her if we can get her to sit still long enough

How lovely for Sif and for you too. Chinese are lovely and I don`t think anyone who has taken one on has regretted it apart from maybe a few individuals who just didn`t understand that they are quite different from what you might expect from a hamster. They just need patience and understanding like most small animals. Really happy for you cactus and I hope you have many happy evenings with her. x

Glad to hear of yet another "ham with issues" blossoming in a loving environment!
