Re: Look who i came home with....
Thank
Tracey your chinesy is a cutie.
Yaaay we have progress. My lovely little Doris has gone from running/hiding every time i went near her cage to taking a mealworm from me, ok she stretched as far as she could but i'm so happy not bad in just over 5 days considering she has never been handled.
Will be moving her into her new zoozone as soon as all her new toys and bits arrive from zooplus.

Re: Look who i came home with....
Welcome to your forever home Doris . I love hearing about rescued hams who land in the home of a Hamster Central member. I know that hammy is going to have a safe, loving home. Chinese hammies seem to be really up and coming with HC folk. The secret seems to be...know your hammy! Each type does really well as long as their owners take the time to learn about their needs. I love HC for this because I know that whatever hammy I decide to get I know that someone on HC will have the info I need. So, if I decide on a Chinese baby at some point, Doris' mom will be a source of great info.

Re: Look who i came home with....
She`s adorable. My feeling is that Chinese hamsters are not very much known or as understood amongst the dwarf hamster species even though they are not truly dwarf hamsters. They love to climb where Russian and Roborovski dwarfs are not as able to do so. I have a Freplast Kios cage stored away that I hoped to have a Chinese hamster in one day but it hasn`t happened yet due to other priorities getting in the way at the moment.
