Help!!!! hamster with big swollen butt

got this chinese dwarf hamster about 2 wks ago. begin to notice his swollen butt. seems to be getting bigger.

see pic. any idea? it's almost as big as his head now.

Are you sure it is not just because he is a male? Chinese hamsters have very large testicles and this is normal. Youngsters don't show them much but as they mature the testicles grow extremely large.
Of course things can go wrong so if they have always been there and suddenly swollen then see a vet but he looks like a fairly normal sized male there!

You have a MALE Chinese hamster and these rear end swellings are his testicles!

I know they look large, but males look like this. No need to worry unless you have a female of course, who don`t have these large sacks.

I can see why you were concerned, I've never had a chinese and if I brought one home and saw that amount of growth I'd also definitely be wondering if it was normal! Bet he's a hit with the ladies

Most people who buy or rehome a Chinese already have an idea that males have scrotal sacks like this although if you got him as a baby, it may not have been apparent. But it`s normal.

i got him like 2 to 3 weeks ago from petsmart. i'm assuming he is a baby, but i have no idea. if he is a baby, is it still normal to have them that BIG?

They don`t usually show as large unless the hamster is a little older, but a breeder of Chinese would answer your question best as they see babies grow up so will recognise when males are at a stage where their scrotal sacks start to show. But at least you know it`s nothing to worry over.

My male chinesey's have poms that are bigger than the size of their heads, do feel sorry for them sometimes haha
