Default Chinese pee is driving me mad!

For the past 2.5 years I have been driven to the edge of my sanity with my Chinese girl’s pee! Pee all down the tubes, pee on the shelves, pee encrusted wheel, pee up my wall!! Yes folks, my Chinese manages to pee through the bars of the cage and up my wall!!

This morning, I decided to brave cleaning my Chinese and was greeted with this delightful pee garden!! Somehow, she managed to glue her wooden log bridge to her shelf, using... you guessed it... pee!! It has grown into lovely urine crystals! How delightful. I had to throw the bridge away because it was un-saveable. This is not the first wooden toy I have had to throw away out of Pebble’s cage!!

Here’s a photo of the crystals grown on the bridge:

And here is the shelf, which you can’t really see, but also had a urine crystal garden.

It’s not the cage, because she’s done this in every cage she’s ever had.

What can I dooo?! heeeelp!

wow, i never have this problem, mine all seem to pee in 1 corner and thats it, if the mum of a litter does this then the pups from that litter generally do the same. its as if they have been taught to. maybe you should try her in a rody or a gabber so she can't pee up the wall

pee up the wall that really is crossing the line

i had her in a rody once and also a gabber and she seems to dislike the plastic cages. She loves bars to climb up.

i've tried her with a potty but she won't use it. She just used to to hide food, like every other toy i put in the cage!

My other Chinese was a pee fest, too. Maybe it's me

All I can say is ... tell me about it!
My female chinese is just the same, I don't have the problem of peeing up the walls because she is in a gabber and sumtimes a bin but she pees all over her wheel and its terrible! Then she poo's in it and emptys her pouch in it and she's then running in a big load of horrible sludge
Other hamsters that I've had used to do it when they were little but then grew out of it but seeing as though yours is 2 and a half I don't think she will grow out of it!
Strange little habbits they have
