Frostberry Nose update
Well the vet saw Frostberry yesterday afternoon, and she was a bit concerned. She said that it could be an infected hair follicle, as some here said, or it could be the start of a fast-growing tumor. She noted that the other side of her nose appeared to be showing some signs of inflammation as well which concerned her.
She prescribed an antibiotic and an anti-inflammatory, which unfortunately wasn't available on-site, so we will have to pick it up from a pharmacy on Monday. She said that if her nose doesn't respond in a week, we will have to consider drastic options.
We are really sad and worried. We will just love on her and take the best care of her we can for however long we have. Thanks all...and if anyone has any experience with this, please chime in...

Re: Frostberry Nose update
Awww. I hope Frostberry (beautiful name btw), responds to the medication she's been given and it's nothing too serious.
I have my fingers crossed!

Thank you so much Nod, we just played with her and she seems to be in fine form. I'll keep you posted.

Re: Frostberry Nose update
I tried to do a search on this for you hoping to find a link or two that might help. Nothing suggesting hair follicle or whisker follicle blockages, just small tumours or infection. I would say just go with the medication for a week, see if the swelling stays the same or shrinks. Keep your vet up to date and fingers crossed, it won`t be anything worrying for you or for Frostberry. x

Re: Frostberry Nose update
Thank you RacingHamster! That was really kind of you, especially since I'm actually a little scared to do a google search right now I really hope it is not cancer. I had a "Siberian" hamster years ago (20!) and she had colon and womb complications (perhaps similar to one of yours?) and she had two surgeries and lived for 2 years, but it was pretty heartbreaking at the end. They are pretty fragile and tough at the same time. I just want Frostberry to feel okay, and not be in pain, that is my main priority. She is a sweetheart.
