Treats for Chinese
My syrian, Rosa, has been getting a little bit of banana for her 'breakfast'. My mum started doing this whilst Rosa was staying with her and now Rosa is used to the routine and expects her treat every day. Mi-Lan, the Chinese, has also had a little bit of banana on a few occasions but obviously this isn't very good for her. Can anyone suggest an alternative as a treat?
Mi-Lan has started to come out of her house to receive the treat and it's proving quite a good way of getting her accustomed to us so I would like to carry on giving her something. She gets a lot of vegetables in her diet anyway so I'd like to give her something else as the treat. Any thoughts welcome.

Re: Treats for Chinese
Mealworms or Sunflower seeds Works with Mulan every time - but also a no sugar shrimp biscuit may be nice?

Re: Treats for Chinese
Hello Sammy,
I have been asked this question a lot when people have brought my Diabetes prone Dwarf hamster mix so here is a list I have made. All are good treats for diabetes prone hamsters like Mi-Lan.
Nuts! only a small amount each day because they are fatty
Dari Nibble Cob - Naturals Range this is a big spike of Dari so break some off & give it to the ham to pick off while you hold it.
Millet spray they are big so break some off & hold it while hammy pulls off the millet
Mix some Puffs up, Puffed Rice, Millet & Buckwheat (make sure the ingredients is 100% & no added anything can be found in health food shops)
Shrimp Cookies Naturals range
Clover Cookie Naturals range
Saflower seeds
Rice cake (with no salt again may need to visit a health food shop)
Broccoli
French bean
Runner bean
Sprout
Cabbabe
Belle Peppers red/yellow
Cooked egg
Cooked Plain Chicken
Cooked Pasta
Pumpkin Seeds
Egg Biscuit (make sure it is sugar free as sometimes the binder can be sugar based)

Re: Treats for Chinese
I second the mealworms idea. They're our favourite bit of bribery with our hybrids

Re: Treats for Chinese
Is the no sugar shrimp biscuit a human food or a hammy food?! Where could I get these? Thanks for the advice.

Re: Treats for Chinese
Thanks all! That's a brilliant list Silver so I'll probably be out shopping tomorrow.
Mi-Lan's a broccoli fiend anyway but I'd like her to get a good variety of foods.
