I've been taking photo's from the nest of hamsterbabies and handled the babies from day 3 in the last 3-4 years in 15 of my own and 20-30 of my friends hamsterbabies (both syrians and dwarfs) without ANY problems or dead babies - ever!
can't see the problem of handling and photografing the babies, as long as the hamster are totally confident with my smell
I have never had any problem by doing it

Re: 6 tiny chinese babies :D
I think its a rule on this site not to have pics of them before eyes are open. Just in case it encourages someone to disturb the nest without care.. Not saying you are not experienced at all, it's just to protect other litters.

Re: 6 tiny chinese babies :D
It might be an idea to take the photos down now, before one of the Moderators has to.
Glad Mum had her litter. Hope they all continue to develop well, and that Mum is doing alright

Re: 6 tiny chinese babies :D
the pics are fantastic, very good image quality, but I have to agree - there is a lot of new (and very young) hamster owners and they might get the wrong idea and start breeding and handling the babies just for the mum to start killing them just to protect them. I know it is possible to handle the mum and babies when you and your hammie are very used to you but some people dont handle their pets often enough to form this bond.
Good luck with the babies and I hope to see more pics again in few weeks!
BTW, I'm glad I saw them now, as they are! I bet they are tiny and wriggly! My syrian had 13 pups and the nest was moving constantly!

Re: 6 tiny chinese babies :D
both mom and babies are doing very well
Xiu is eating and drinking a lot, but the rest of the time she spend with the babies.
I might keep one - the rest are going to loving homes It's pretty easy to fin homes for hamsters in Denmark, so it shouldn't be hard to find them af good home
(otherwise I keep them all that's the game in breeding - sell to loving families or keep them... )
