Re: Went to P@H today...
Thank youu
Just got myself a bite from the little guy and it drew blood. I admit it's my fault, he isn't properly settled and I scared him. Stupid mistake! -.-
The reason I went to pick him up was to check his leg. He was asleep instore so I didn't get a look but he doesn't use his left back leg, it's all curled up. I'm thinking it's a birth defect as the leg is alot smaller than his other one but I'm taking him back to P@H tommorow to get it looked at properly.

Re: Went to P@H today...
I wonder if that is why he has been biting? He may have broken the leg and if it has set badly he will not have been using it so the muscles atrophy and the leg looks smaller. I would have the vet check it because if it is a recent injury he may need some painkillers.
They really should have noticed and advised you. I doubt that would have stopped you adopting though

Re: Went to P@H today...
That's a good guess, I think. That could also be the reason why he was rehomed at 8 months old? I can't see any other reason for sudden biting. Tbh, in the the shop he was just snuggled in his house so I didn't see him walk. I doubt the staff handle him to see any injuries, not that it's an excuse for them!
Anyway, will ring up P@H tommorow and get something sorted for the little man.

Re: Went to P@H today...
Forgot to ask, if it is a broken leg set wrong, what will need to be done?
He's very well adapted with 3 legs, he was digging and running just now. Would he be able to keep the leg or is amputation the only option?

Re: Went to P@H today...
If it is already healed there won't really be anything they can do that would give him any benefit. Just try and keep him on a single level cage and see how he does with wheeling. Treat him as slightly disabled and avoid climbing toys because his movement will be worse that a 4 legged hammy.
I don't think he needs amputation unless it is causing him problems.

Re: Went to P@H today...
Thanks Anorak and Sammy. x
Thanks for the info Souffle. I'll get him checked to see if any meds are needed, he doesn't have a level in his cage atm anyway so he should be fine. I'll keep an eye on him for now with the wheel.
The paperwork I signed said that I am now responsible for any medical fees but I'm sure my Mum will have a word, since he came home with the injury.
