Default Megazorb or shavings for Chinese hamsters?

Interested to see what peopple use for the Chinese hamsters - I use to keep all my hamsters on shavings when I had them 20 odd years ago, same as guineas back then but have since learning more on the guinea/rabbit forums stopped using sawdust/shavings for guineas and the rabbit here.

When I got Dudley I was low on megazorb so used shavings which he seemed fine with but have put him on megazorb now and he seems equally fine with that.

Has anyone ever had a hamster react to shavings? Just hoping megazorb is fine to use for him.

(I never noticed any problems with shavings with guineas but have moved to megazorb as it seems good and don't want to risk any allergic reaction, having said that my one guinea Monty seems to like shavings more so it's a tricky one really!)

I don't have a chinese but I use Megazorb for all of my pets (Hammies, Rabbits and Gerbil) and it's a great bedding. It holds tunnels well too.

My chinese hammy has megazorb, same as all my other hamsters, I'd be scared of her getting shavings in her eyes during her many journeys underground

I use aubiose normally. But occasionally i use megazorb, it always goes down well with bacardi as its great for digging and nest building.

Just wondering where you get your megazorb?
I get mine from a tack shop in romsley/clent called jackie roberts.
Just in case you didn't know, it saves money instead of ordering it online

Oooh, forgot to add, Megazorb is also better due to the pee absorbtion, Sesame seems to pee a lot, so it's useful for that.

I use wood shavings, although in the future i'd like to switch to something more comfortable for them. Milos perfectly fine on shavings, and getting megazorb is extra pennies that i don't have! And its more hastle :/

Ah didnt know that thanks, have rung horse supply places locally but no one had it in. Trouble is I don't drive so I just get mine from Farmaway online £7 a bag and £5 delivery. How much do you pay? - could see if Dad would offer the parental taxi service for a trip as only a few miles away - bit embarrasing at 38 saying parental taxi service but parents are so good for collecting animal supplies

Just cleaned Dudley today - hard to find damp spots - I'm so use to guineas who wee everywhereWill stick to megazorb for him - I do worry about the bad press shavings get - mine have never had any reaction but don't want to risk it - and its cheap and does seem good for burrowing in.
