Default Ferplast Duna Fun review

hey, i'm new but anyway i think i can still review a cage i had.
well 2 of the same cages which lasted about a month each.
the ferplast duna fun.
heres a picture if you dont know what it is
ferplast duna fun - Google Product Search
I housed a syrian in there - i KNOOOW its not for syrians but i didn't know that cus i bought it online. the idiot there said it was perfect for syrians. well luckily i had a very small syrian. so i'm gonna do a quick review on it, briefly.

pros -
Roomy for one dwarf hamster.
nice big opening at top for very easy access, not like those tiny doors they do now!
can be transformed into a mini duna by taking the middle bit out!!
has a tunnel so can expand using other ferplast cages. but i didn't do that
easy to clean out
nice lot of accessories comes with it
shelf - extremely useful now that i dont use the cage anymore. i use it for my robo's box cage, as a shelf!!
lighweight.

cons-
extremely pricey for the size and quality
my hamster chewed out of 2 of them in a few weeks - so i went for a big rat cage with a metal base. much better value!
horrifyingly loud wheel! why don't they just suupply a silent spinner with the cages now?? WHY WHY WHY those awful squeaky things?
loud to open. which isn't a big deal, but in the middle of the night when i want to top up food it is lol.
has no handles for carrying.
should be bigger, for it to be able to house 2 DWARFS as dwarfs should live together, why make it bigg enough only for 1, when most ppl get 2 dwarfs at a time!!!??

well that from my experience, i know its a rubbish review but i am kind of in a rush lol - infact i'm trying to find a cheap base for the cage (like my hamster chewed her way out of it lol) for breeding hamsters. spare cages very useful!

will add more detail sometime soon - thanks for reading!

Default Re: Ferplast Duna Fun review

We house two roborovskis in these cages. They live alone and seem happy.
I'm considering upgrading the cage size in the future but we got them for £25 each with food/bedding/shavings for free and the hamsters do seem happy. Is a definite upgrade from the petshop cages they were in and from the one Skip had with his previous owner.
For a single robo I find it works ok, but I'd never want anything larger in there.
And for £25 its the cheapest cage in pets at home, which is the only half-decent petstore in less than an hours drive from where I am now. At that price I thought it was well worth the money, but I was buying for roborovski's who are pretty small. I'm happy with them, find they work really well, although I did change the wheels before putting the boys into them.
That said I got them for small animals. Would never buy for a syrian.
