I thought she may have broken it but luckily she now seems to be using it s normal so hopefully she just wrenched it a little.
I know they need to have a few slits to attach the ladder to but I am not sure why there are grooves al the way around the shelf. Thinking about it it seems like a possible hazard.

Could I ask you to email Savic regarding this if you have a spare moment, I can get the address for you, I think they seem to think that Im a one off case and obviously this shelf needs to be recalled. Both hamsters have had lucky escapes and it could have been much much worse.

If you have the email address I will drop them an email to tell them. I may swap the shelf for one from a criceti 15. It still has slits for the ladder but not as many and they aren't as big.

Sorry to hear about Spike
She sounds like a real fighter! I can't imagine how much pain she must of gone through and I'm glad she is getting better. It really annoys me when stuff is advertised wrongly, there was a fish tank at my Garden Center and it was really small and on the box it said you could fit loads of golfish in when in accutail fact you could only fit 1 or maybe two if you wanted them to have a happy life.
I really hope Savic listen to all your complaints! Wofunny xx

Re: Hamster Heaven warning
Poor Spike, hope she settles into her new home and gets well soon. Thanks for sharing her traumatic experience, I'm sure it will save other hammies from injury.

Re: Hamster Heaven warning
Aww, poor little spike, what a trooper.
That must have been so frightening for her, doesn't bare thinking about . . .
I am shcoked that Savic are not replying to you, surely this is something that needs to be stated on the packaging and taken into consideration? Maybe they can make some adaptations, or even create a 'dwarfie' hamster haven? Lots of people would want one I am sure.
Anyway, glad to hear that she is coping on the leggies and I hope that she has a long and happy life.

Re: Hamster Heaven warning
I'm so sorry to hear about your poor little one's accident! She seems to be coping well though and you're helping her out where you can.
I don't know if it's necessary or not but I happened to be checking out Hammocky Hammocks this morning for chinchilla accessories on the advice of another chin owner and noticed a product called Bumble Pads. They're designed for animals who have bumblefoot or who have had recent amputations. I immediately thought of Spike and wanted to mention it. Best of all, they're all handmade and they donate their profits to small animal rescues! Hammocky Hammocks - Hand Crafted Luxury For Your Pet
Best of luck to little Spike and I hope that the terror of what happened fades quickly from her memory!

Re: Hamster Heaven warning
omg thats awful how they've responded to you informing them, they should be more responsible. Maybe you should enquire what they would put on the box if it was suitable for dwarfs?
I'm glad to hear she's doing well and I hope she continues to do so she sounds like a fighter so I'm sure she'll be fine

I hope you don't mind Gill and Hammie but I have cross posted your warning in the hope it will prevent other hams being hurt.
