Default Henry's home! Please advice ❤️

Hi all!

We have had 3 hamster in the past. 1 Syrian and 2 Roborovskis.

We currently have a 10 week old male Syrian, called Henry. At the moment this is the set up. We can't change the size of the cage but can I have some suggestions please on how to make his home more interesting for him? Under the shelf there is a log with holes and lots and lots of substrate.

Default Re: Henry's home! Please advice ❤️

looks good, id suggest removing the stones from the water there isnt really a need for them to be in there at 10 weeks there wouldnt be a risk of him falling in and drowning and ive not seen a hamster willingly hop into their water for a "bath" lmao one thing i would suggest is a larger sand bath, it looks quite small especially for a syrian you could also add a few cardboard rolls (with a cut through it in case the little guy decides to crawl through it and gets stuck so he can still push his way through) and more seed sprays like flax/sorghum. my syrian and chinese hamsters love both flax and sorghum they havent really been keen on the other seed sprays. you could also buy sunflower heads and break it into small pieces and drop a piece in there so he can pull the sunflowers out himself and you could add some more dig boxes with coco fibre (you can buy premade or add the water and make it yourself) or a cheaper option would be to cut up old cardboard boxes (without tape/stickers on) into little squares and let the hammy dig through that if you hide some seeds in there
