Re: Hamster heaven vs alaska?
I've only ever had the alaska, but pros it is one of the cheapest hamster cages for it's size, has two great large openings (best of any cage in my opinion)
Personal opinion - cons - i would get rid of the hamster house (prob too small if getting a syrian). If you have a chunky syrian, it may not be able to get through the hole at the top of the slide onto the plastic shelf.
Hamster heaven - cons - A lot of people end up taking off the outside tunnels off as their hamsters sleep, pee and store food in them and they are difficult to keep clean. Expensive. Can get other cages that are bigger for the same price of less.
I'm sure others will have their opinions too.
Hope this helps

Re: Hamster heaven vs alaska?
Me again - bearing in mind this is for a dwarf hamster
Alaska Pros
1) Cheap
2) Big front door
3) Good size
Cons:
1) Some people say flimsy ish
2) Rubbish shelf and ladder (IMHO) but useable
3) Tall for a dwarf hamster - needs extra shelves or a second level to avoid injuries from falls and a very careful set up.
Hamster Heaven
Pros
1). Well made cage
2). Much better big front door that opens right to the top and closes very securely
3). Low height (about 36cm internal height)
4). Suitable for dwarf or Syrian hamster
5). Slightly deeper than Alaska so good floor area dimensions depth wise for setting up
Cons
1)Not really a con - it comes with a load of colourful plastic that needs removing to make it workable for a dwarf hamster. Except the one solid shelf which could be useful and the tubes could be used as floor toys in short runs.
2) Not cheap but long lasting cage

Re: Hamster heaven vs alaska?
I can't speak for the Alaska as I've never had one but some of my friends have and they have said that the bars are quite flimsy so you'd need to keep an eye out for possible escape points. However it can be a more budget friendly option.
I've used a Hamster Heaven for Chinese before and it was a lovely cage. You can sometimes get a good deal on a secondhand one which is how I got mine and I found mine to be a good, well-built cage. I didn't get all the plastic stuff with mine but that gave me the scope to really tailor the cage to suit the needs of the occupant. The large front door can be quite handy if you want to change something about the layout of the cage whilst the cage is in situ and mine had carrying handles to make moving the cage easier.

Re: Hamster heaven vs alaska?
Same cage basically The Hamster Sky is probably better as less tubes and plastic to remove and no penthouse. But it is exactly the same cage. Is there a price difference?

The hamster heaven 121,76 euro

So cheaper one takes longer? How much is the Mickey 2XL? Advantage of that is no external tubes so no silly hole blockers. It’s also exactly the same cage as the other two but with narrow bars. I chucked the grid shelf and used a flat roof house plus a small shelf in one corner.

HH has actually jumped up in price now, so it does not really mather where I buy it. I could buy the Mickey 2XL,but the petstore wont sell it to me because of the shelf. I have spoken to lokal petstore, and they did not sell it either. The lady I talked with proposed glass cage with door in front, it is 70*36 it think and cost 121,85 euro.
If I`m buying the HH or the sky,who do you recommend?
