Question Bedding type concerns over if it’s safe?

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Simply-Soft...gateway&sr=8-1

Is this bedding safe for hamsters, I have 4 bags of it? I’ve attached a link to it (tried to add pic but failed)

Hi, I believe this is the Kapok bedding. If it is, I don't think it is safe as it is not fully dissoluble. This means that if your hamster ingests it, it could possibly get twisted round it's inside. In my opinion not worth the risk with a hamsters life.

Agree with Luna and not something i would use.

Plain white unscented toilet paper torn into strips is what hamsters like in their nest. That and plenty of substrate.

I use the Kaytee clean & cozy for my Syrian and Robo and they both like it. It expands x 3 times so a packet goes a lot further than it looks.

In a Overseas Hamster Group I am a member of on Facebook they have started a Petition to force Wilkos to stop the sales of this bedding as being it has killed over 3,000 Hamsters by choking. The Hamsters pouch this stuff and it sticks to the moist pouch and builds up by expansion until it blocks their airways. The owner of the group had this horrible experience and has set out to get it removed in GB. To read her story on how she sat at the vets watching her buddy slowly die was a hard one to read but she is not the only Hamster owner to have to do that.

Don't feel bad as you were not aware. I'm glad you asked about it and are doing a change.
