Default Review of Savic Rody Metro De Luxe

Hi everyone, I thought I would do a review of the Savic Rody Metro Cage I got for Mumble as an extension to his Hamster Heaven. Mumble had started bar chewing and after swapping his toys around & using cardboard etc he was still doing it. I was finding in the hamster heaven by the time he had his 12inch flying saucer, sand bath, house & toilet there wasn't leaving much room for interesting toys to play with. I decided to add an extension. I wanted a savic cage so that the tubes would link and after looking at some I decided on the Savic Rody Metro. I'm overall really pleased with it and I think Mumble is too. Its quite similar to the mini duna. Its measurements are 55 x 39 x 26. Mine came with a red base and it comes with a green shelf inside which the water bottle, food bowl & wheel can be attached to. It comes with a savic water bottle & wheel. It also has tubes which when attached make a loop over the top of the cage. There are stoppers provided so these can be blocked off. I was hoping the tubes could be simply attached to the hamster heaven however due to the way the Savic Rody sat on top of the cage they needed to bent slightly (you will see what I mean in the picture).
Overall I'm pleased with the cage and it means I can a few extra toys for Mumble to play with & he has his sand bath up there. I was considering making a bin cage as an extension but decided against this as I'm not good at DIY so that why I wanted a Savic that I could just attach.
This cage could make an alternative to a Mini Duna although at £30 its £5 more expensive. If anybody was looking to expand their hamster heaven (not that you need to its a perfectly fine cage!) I would defiantly recommend this cage. My only con would be access. With the tubes entering the cage through the metal bars at the top you have to maneuver them out to slid the lid open. This isn't a massive problem as you obviously gain access to your ham from the attached cage & I'm sure if anyone was using this a soul cage then they would remove the tubes. I ordered mine from amazon and paid £30 for it. Mumbles bar chewing has stopped too

Heres some pics of Mumble modelling it for you.

Nice little extension ....but how does he get down that vertical tube to the side? It`s very steep. Wouldn`t it be easier for him to navigate if the tube was more at an easy angle? Nice though, I like it.

He manages fine up & down the vertical tube. He grips fine & never has any problems. There is no other way to put it other than vertical because it has to go into the opening at the top.

Looks good I'd like to extend my Syrians cage in a similar way but she's a bit too big for the tubes >.<

Have a suggestion though - instead of having the big 'hump' in the tubes with the corners, couldn't you use the blue straight one to connect the two corner tubes outside of the cage? That would make it a lot easier for him to get through it.

Hey SS,

Aww bless Luna, shes just big boned That was my original plan when I bought the cage, a straight up, across and down tube structure. Because of the way the cage has to sit on the top and connect on to the HH it doesn't fit by about 0.5cm! So frustrating I tried every way & had a strop so my boyfriend had a go & he couldn't do it either. Although its not the best way Mumble seems to like the bit in the middle going straight across, he sits in there and has a nap sometimes.
