Lazybones 3 tier cage
This review is about the Lazybones 3 tier/storey hamster cage. I bought this new around 4-5 months ago from Ebay (unused) It cost £26 including postage. It came with two food bowls, two wheels, a water bottle and a detachable house. It also has tubes connecting each floor. Putting the actual cage together was easy, it was the tubes that I struggled with. It's fairly easy to clean, took me a few weeks to get used to it but now it's fine. The cage doors are quite small so sometimes, depending on what angle your hamster is at, it's difficult to get them out of the cage. I have taken one of the wheels out as my hamster doesn't use them very often. I use it to let my hamster climb into, then I take it out of the cage and pick him up from there. Also has a handle on the top. Very practical! I really like this cage and i'm glad I bought it. It's worth looking on Ebay! I'm not sure if it's a well known brand or not, I don't think it is as I had never heard of it. I would recommend this cage!

Detailed review
What species do you have? I've seen the cage before and think the wheels might
be too small for Syrian hamsters.

A Syrian but he rarely uses the wheel, maybe because it is too small, I'm not sure but he makes up for it by going in his ball everyday

Re: Lazybones 3 tier cage
That cage is insanely small, especially for a syrian that is why they are so cheap. I doubt the wheel is anywhere near big enough as they are made for dwarfs (i would not recommend that cage for dwarfs either).
Please consder getting a bigger more suitable cage. x

Re: Lazybones 3 tier cage
This cage was actually recommended to me by the staff in the pet shop. It is bigger than it looks on pictures. Yes, it is quite small width and length wise but it is made up for in height. Like I said, my Syrian doesn't actually use his wheel, maybe because they are too small but more because he doesn't actually like using wheels. In his last cage, which had a bigger wheel, I never saw him using it. I had that cage for nearly a year. In all politeness, I won't be considering getting a new cage because I think my current one is perfectly suitable.
My hamster is happy and so am I.

Re: Lazybones 3 tier cage
I read the dimensions of that cage are around 40x26x53cm, the minimum dimensions for a hamster cage according to the RSPCA are 75x40x40cm. Often people working in pet shops aren't as knowledgeable about hamster care as they should be otherwise they would have told you that that cage is too small instead of recommending it.
I agree with Sanctuary, you really should consider investing in a larger cage for your hamster's sake.
Also, most cages come with wheels that are far smaller than what's recommended for a full grown Syrian, so it would be wise to buy a larger wheel. Karlie Wonderland wheels are good, just make sure whatever wheel you get is around 20cm or larger in diameter depending on your hamster's size. Any smaller can cause spinal damage.
Sorry if this sounded harsh, but I'm sure the welfare of your hammy is important to you and I wanted to make sure you know all the facts

Re: Lazybones 3 tier cage
I have also done some research. The RSPCA website recommends that the minimum dimensions are 75X40X40. Doesn't say it has to be. In my other post, I mentioned that my hamster has never used his wheel whether it's too small or not so there is no chance of spinal damage. My hamster is perfectly happy in his cage. If I thought it was too small, or had any concerns over my hamster's welfare., I would not have bought it. Hope this doesn't sound rude, I'm not trying to be, but I'm just trying to get my point across.

Re: Lazybones 3 tier cage
Reccomendations are there for a reason: to make sure an animal has a long, happy and healthy life. Yes, while you do not have to follow them the RSPCA are not the only group which say that 70x40x40 or thereabouts are the minimum dimensions for a hamster cage and many other websites and people also use the RSPCA guidelines while giving advice, hence why I included it as it is generally accepted.
I mentioned the hamster wheel because while you said your hamster does not use his wheel you also said in a later post that you are unsure of whether that is because its too small so I gave you some advice there too.
At the end of the day its your choice. I just gave you some advice and a few facts.

Re: Lazybones 3 tier cage
I know you are just trying help and that is appreciated but I know if my hamster's happy or not. And right now, he is. If this changes, then I will consider that the cage may be too small and think about getting a new one. But for now, he's perfectly happy and healthy so I don't see the need to change his cage. Again, sorry if this seems rude. If you have any more to say on the matter please private message me as I don't think it's appropriate for us to be getting at each other over a public thread.
