I havent yet (for what I can remember) got a miss sexed one myself, syrians are easy enough to tell, and I just sit and watch the tanks for 30 mins or so, deciding boys v girls, colours, who I like ect ect.
I go past now, and most their babys look about the size of mr humphreys my winter white XD showing hamsters has really changed my view haha!
i was double and tripple checking wurzel was a boy, as he is coming to the thame show (I am nervous about, He has escaped me several times, but on a timy judging table... im scared!)
He has some puffyness now behind the bottom, so im guessing those are his balloons, he is definatly male by the holes, and has a scent gland on the tummy, but I dont trust pets at home with them at all!
XD
I acturally want to get a job with them, so at least someone on shop floor will know what a hamster is and has good advice! XD
Also i have kept fish for years, I have kept reptiles, gerbils, hybrids, robos, chinese, and soon bunnys.
but I know more about rats and guinea pigs, degu then what their staff would I feel haha!
I did some reserch into both when considering pets (and sugar gliders and chincilla's I did lots of reaserch) but decided rabbits where the choise to go along with the hamstery
to keep on subject of the thread.
I have had this cage. Before joining any sites, i had 3 gerbils in there, they had a wheel they enjoyed and dug alot in the bottom moving their tea jar around, I did use it for a 'holding cage' recently, for nancy untill the barney cages arrived, and for mr. humph when my sister was sorting the duna out. I would have kept it for a holding cage but I broke the base of it so it had to be dumped.
For a single dwarf (non chinese or robo) with the levels covered up, I feel it wouldnt be a cruel cage, I quite like it in a way, you get the niceness of seing them through the plastic, and then the wire top for wheels and other bits.
But syrians I couldnt keep in there for long im afraid
