Meshing the top really isn't that bad. It took me and a buddy about 1 1/2 hours to do it. Just get the thinnest gauge wire you can if you are going to wrap the wire mesh onto the lid like I have done. Zip ties like Bailey did would be a lot faster probably.
Here's my completed ZZ2 that will house 6 Campbell's:
I'm using a long twist tie to hold the water bottle right now. I threw away the yellow bottle holder on accident! I had to buy a special water bottle that has notches on the back of it in order to make it stay up. The cage is deep and dwarfs especially will need a step up from the bedding to comfortably reach the bottle spout. I have seen people use the holes in the corners on the top of the plastic base to secure a bottle as well.
I found that putting the mesh on a ZZ2 lid was easier than a ZZ1. The ZZ1 lid is rounded and I had to make a gap between the mesh and the edges so the lid would close properly, while the ZZ2 lid is totally flat and fits a little less constrained. I meshed the lid the same way I did on this ZZ1:
Here are pics of two different ZZ1 set ups:
I highly recommend both Zoo Zone cages!
