I keep most of my Chinese in savic Rodys.
Pros:
-easy to clean
-easy access to all parts of cage
-plenty of space to put hidey-holes/toys and larger wheel
- difficult (not impossible though
)to escape from
-easy to store (I wouldn't recommend stacking as the ventilation grille and only access in on top. They fit nicely on shelves)
-suitable for litters
-cheap secondhand
Cons:
-the supplied shelf and waterbottle system is daft. I ended up with substrate piled under the spout and soggy hamsters. I now use bottles hanging from the grille or velcro'd to a corner
- determined beasts can still access the bars and get bar rub
-around the clips and where the shelf fits are common places for chewing. I have had a chew-y syrian make a 3-4cm hole in the side of the base.
- if you are careless like me and lean on the grille when its open you can snap the plastic holding it. It still works, just needs a bit of sticky tape
Cage size is a contentious issue, but in my opinion it is a perfectly adequate size. I have housed syrians in it before (usually those who aren't suited for barred cages for various reasons).
