Default Rydon Mill House - Cage review

This is a Rydon Mill House ( http://www.amazinganimal.co.uk/mill-house-p-11548.html )
Dimensions are 546mm long x 376mm wide x 274mm high - so is great for a single dwarf hamster
Price ranges from £19.99 - £26.99

Good Points:
  • the runway around the edge of the cage is great fun for the hamster, plus you get to see him/her better!
decent sized platform on the upper level - enough space to be useful, without limiting access to the floor of the cage
    Easy to clean out
Large opening on the top = good access and well ventilated

Bag Points:
  • would only really be big enough for a single dwarf
the wheel that it comes with isn't great
water bottle holder is an indentation in the upper platform - I have yet to decide whether or not I like this ... no problems so far though.

That looks really great

Do you know the dimensions of the Mill House? It looks like a really nice cage!

We have the millhouse for 'lodgers' and the dwarfs love it. The top part is nice and clear for seeing them and dwarfs love the runway round the edge. It is much the same size as a Gabber lux Holly. It is too small for an adult Syrian really though Red was in there as a baby for a while before her Rex. I think they are very well made cages and well priced at around £20. Kipton is in a version with a flying house and runway which he seems very happy in. They are very adaptable and you can move things around. They are also easy clean and accessable. I would rather see asyrian in this than a small bar cage if that was the choice an owner had to make.
How does your one get in the sputnic Faye? Is there a ladder? We may get one if you tell us how they get in for Gus. He may use the sand bath if you try moving it on the floor level. Ours do!

I'll try the sand bath on the floor - thanks for the tip
He hasn't been in the sputnik yet - he can easily access it from the top level, but he hasn't been up there since I put it in... (I think he's tired from all his hard work on the wheel!)
I'll let you know how he gets on with it though...

Nice set up there Faye, loads to do. My Luna seems to like rolling in the sand bath in private lol, under the shelf and round the corner, I hear her rustling, rolling and scratchin in there every day but she stops when she sees me looking.

It looks really nice, sadly another one that's perfect for dwarfies but on the small side for Syrians, really - I wish they'd make more tank type cages in the 70cm wide category.

Awwwww he's a sweetie.

I had a look at one of those and also wondered about the water bottle situation, you could always drill an extra hole if it's a problem.
