Re: Hamster Heaven - Cage review
We have one of these cages for Millie and she loves it. Didn't use the Roly wheel but used a wodent instead. One critcism is that a big Syrian will struggle through the tubes and that the upper house is easily chewed through. Is expensive but nice for a Hamster who loves bar chewing

Re: Hamster Heaven - Cage review
there was one on ebay recently for about £30 and i nearly put a bid in, but then realised that it has sticky up bits on top, meaning i can't stack a gabber on top.

Re: Hamster Heaven - Cage review
I have 2 of these cages and I believe they are really good, yes they are expensive but they are spacious. The only real gripe I have is with the tubes, they fit together at very severe angles and I personally don't like them for my long haired syrians. I don't use them, and instead have put in some ferplast tubes and fitted them to the inside of the cage. The bars are nice and strong and the shelf is a nice size also, the shelves come in Yellow, Blue and a grey/blue and you can order replacements from P@H - I did and received a light grey/blue one - which is nice if you fancy a colour change. I like the big fold down door on the front and my hamsters will crawl across the open door to greet me when I open it - just watch they don't escape lol. The cage comes with a toilet, an Igloo bed, a sputnic roof bed, a steel dish and hook, and clip on water bottle. There is a penthouse roof attachement as well although I don't use it because I don't use the tubes. Finally you get 2 very convenient handles on the top of the cage which is great if you want to pick it up and move it, overall a great cage.

Re: Hamster Heaven - Cage review
Set this cage up yesterday for my hammy & I love it! When I saw the original posters pics it didn't look that big but in 'real life' it is huge. It comes with everything you need but there is plenty of floor space & hanging space to add extra accessories & change them around reguarly. As soon as I've saved up enough money I will be buying another one for my other hammy - & that's saying a lot as I'm a fussy cage chooser!
On a side note - in response to Naomi's Like - I wouldn't risk buying from Dabners online. I received appauling service from them - my tank arrived broken & unsafe for use, they refused to give me a refund, instead I had to wait in for a courier to collect it - then it took at least 10 emails back & forth plus phone calls to get a refund...even then postage wasn't repaid, so paid it for nothing.
Also ordered a fish keeping book that never arrived, again emails back & forth happened - told book out of stock & they would send equivilent or better. That never happened... eventually got a refund 6 months later, again with no P&P refund
I will NEVER order from them again, which is a shame as they have some nice stuff.

Re: Hamster Heaven - Cage review
I have one of these cages and I have to be honest, I would not buy another. I have had two hamsters in it - my first Syrian, Toffee, didn't really like the cage (I think she was a bit overawed by it) so she's now in a Gabber Rex and I have my male Syrian, Woody, in the HH.
Both hamsters have slept in the green box at the top of the cage, and both started weeing in their bed in this cage. Toffee has never done this since being in the Gabber, and Woody never did this previously.
Woody has only been in the cage 2 weeks and he is now on a course of Baytril after suffering urine scalding on his belly and losing some fur.
We did try taking the box off and moving the tubes so they fed back into the cage, but Woody got very stressed and upset about this and refused to jump back out into the cage, he then reversed the length of the tube getting scared and panicky, and made some hissing noises we have never heard from him before. We then put the box back, big mistake, as he is now balding and hurting.
We've blocked off the tubes now, which he is not happy with, but it has to be done for his health. We will be getting him a Savic Cambridge as soon as pay day comes.

Re: Hamster Heaven - Cage review
Kretchers looks so cute in that pic, hehe
Im thinking about getting one of these cages, i just recently bought a cambridge for one hammy, and on the same day got a 2nd hammy. The new hammy is in Goose's old cage which is a starter cage with a base size not that much smaller than the cambridge but only half the height. He will need an upgrade when he gets a little bigger so im thinking of either getting him the hamster heaven or passing him the cambridge and putting goose in a hamster heaven. Dont want to feel im giving one the better cage than the other but i dont want to have 2 identical cages, the HH looks really cool and while i can afford it id like to buy the best i can, so its very tempting, i could spend lots of time fiddling with the layout and making it interesting for the hammy and also interesting for me to watch him/her play in, i tend to find the cambridge fairly limited in this respect (maybe due to lack of imagination and time recently).
How do you feel about the tube size of the HH for a big girl syrian? i dont have a way of weighing her atm so i cant determine if they are okay size or not from the other users weights. There is a pic in the cambridge review of her on the wheel if need be to guess based on scale against wheel size (wheel is an 18cm Rolly).

Re: Hamster Heaven - Cage review
Hi. I think the tubes are an ok size and will be fine for a female hamster. Tinkerbell (sadly gone to rainbow bridge now) was a big hamster but she was fine in those tubes - she didn't have a hamster heaven but she did have the same tubes as part of her cage set-up and never had a problem with them. I don't like the sharp angles of the Savic tubes - I much prefer the 'softer' curve of the Ferplast tubes but hamsters do seem to cope with them. (The Ferplast hamster tubes and Savic tubes are compatible, by the way).
If you decided not to use the tubes / green thing on top you can easily block the holes on the Hamster Heaven off with a stopper such as the one Here or this toy also comes with three stoppers that will fit the Hamster Heaven tube holes.
If you are strapped for cash you could consider the Jack cage too which isn't quite so big but is still a nice size. There's a review on it in this section.

Re: Hamster Heaven - Cage review
Cash is good for this one, i could have afforded to buy it last friday but as i got a new hamster that day too i decided to put aside £50 of my cash for a cage and accessory upgrade for the new guy in a month or 2 so i just got a cambridge for goose rather than a HH, but my parents said they would have bought Goose's cage for me for christmas, so im going to get them to give me the value of a cambridge cage towards a hamster heaven cage, they will pay £40, so ill only have to pay £30 towards it from my £50 i set aside, leaving £20 for accessories etc. So i can get the upgrade now basically rather than waiting a month. Sooner is better i guess as lets him settle into his permanent cage.
Thanks for tube info, i shall maybe bus to stockport tomorrow to pets at home and get one.
[edit]
Update: Today i bought a hamster heaven from Pets at Home in stockport, a few bits seemed to be missing from each cage they had but the staff managed to complete the accessory set combining items from each cage and also included an extra elbow from one of the other cages to make the tubing more accessable for the hamster, i bought a straight tubing piece too though to replace this elbow however as i didnt want to have too many 90 degree bends in a row.
And in Pets at Home it comes with a hamster starter set which includes a bag of bedding, bag of woodshavings, 10ml bottle of vitimin solution, bag of treats, 200g of hamster museli and a hamster book.
The cage itself is lovely, same quality as all the savic cages (Good Quality).
Came supplied with:
Iglo House
Sputnik Hammock
Water Bottle
18cm Rolly wheel + Stand
Litter Tray and sample litter
Coop Style food bowl
3 x Straight tubes
5 x 90 Degree tubes (6 in my case)
The cage top hideout/extension.
Platform
2 x Ladders
The wheel as reported when mounted on the cage does hit the base hence needs to be mounted high. So a platform or some ladders up to it will be required for access, i plan on hanging a climbing frame near it to see if this is sufficient to allow access (it does come with a floor stand though, i just dont like free standing wheels incase they knock them over onto themselves when climbing/falling and running about like crazy)
I havent put either of my hammy's in it yet, probly wont until after christmas, but at least its here and set up ready to go when needed.
This time managed to get a bus home pretty much door to door so didnt have to carry it to stockport train station from the store, which would have killed me as its epically awkward to carry due to its size, the carry handles are useless for carrying it unless you like to hold your arms in an awkward possition of have a large object hitting your legs repeatedly as you walk.

Re: Hamster Heaven - Cage review
Hi, just thought I'd post my own thoughts on the Hamster Heaven. I bought it a few days ago for £73 from my local P@H to replace my Savic Rody, which my Syrian Hammy (that's actually his name) has gotten too big for. It took quite a while to put together, the yellow platform being particularly awkward to screw into place. The wheel provided is ideal for a Syrian, much better than the one in the Rody, the hamster potty is a good addition (was amazed to find that mine actually uses it), and the igloo and hammock provided are good hiding places. Although the cage is by no means the cheapest on the market, it is well worth the dosh, and Hammy seems to love it!! I would recommend the Hamster Heaven to any Syrian owner.
