Some people have asked for a discount and got it. I think Catya got it for £54 or something like that at P@H. We joined their 'club' and get a magazine every so often. It has a voucher for £10 off any purchase over £30 this month so you should join this and may get a good offer.

What's the feeling on the tube size?

I noticed the one above had had them replaced - is this likely to be a problem, out of box? Or something to keep an eye on as my hamster grows?

Am really quite keen on this cage, otherwise

Hi, the pics are of my cage, the tubes haven't been replaced I have just added a couple extra as the bad thing about the HH is that the tube stops too high for a hamster to enter so you need to add a couple more links so the hamster can get up.

The tubes are the widest I've seen and my 150g Desi can turn round in one

To be honest I think the whole "large Syrian hamster not fitting through tubes" thing is somewhat exaggerated - we have a 190g Syrian who easily fits the Imac tubes - and they are interchangeable with Rotastak and exactly the same diameter!

Where problems *might* occur is when you have right angled bends (as in the Hamster Heaven). Again I think it would have to be a pretty large hamster though.

I've recently got one of these cages for my hyperactive hamster Herbert. He loves it, though it took him a week or so to settle in. There's just a couple of things I've had to change that I thought I would let everyone know about!

Two problems:

Herbert's worked out how to unhook the metal dish that came with it, thus depositing his hamster food all over the shelf and making a noise!

He was rapidly gnawing his way out of the green 'Penthouse' that sits on the top of the cage. Another couple of days and he would have been out through the top door!

Somehow he *knew* there was a door on top and knew that it was an exit point. He hasn't attempted to gnaw the tubes at all and isn't really bar gnawing so it was a real escape-attempt not a boredom thing as far as I can tell!

What I have done to resolve them:

Herbert's food is now in a bolt-on coop cup so he can't remove it. The dish is slightly bigger too so probably a bit heavier for him to shift.

I've removed the Penthouse altogether, he was destroying it and would have been out of the cage so I didn't have much choice really! He didn't seem to enjoy it anyway, all he did was try to escape from there. I've repositioned the tubes so that they still go up and around but now just go in a loop back into the cage. He still uses them and plays in them so I thought I may as well leave them in. Will take a pic of it to show what I mean just in case anyone else has a manic hamster.

Otherwise I like the cage very much. It was worth spending my over-time money on - I like the way Herbert can climb in it and I like the potential it has for hanging toys, adding leap n' ledges etc.

This cage is now a whopping 79.99 at Pets At Home, I've found it for £10 less if anyone's interested?

I got a discount of this at P@H. I simply asked and we went into the Swindon branch and recieved 20% off without any trouble! We also got 20% off the other things we were buying at the time and a hamster kit. I would ask if you want a discount the worst they can say is no!
