Post Umbrous x Umbrous

Sorry I can't seem to find the info anywhere! If you bred a umbrous hamster to another umbrous hamster, would the offspring ALL be umbrous? Or is there a chance some wouldn't receive a copy from both parents so appear non umbrous?

Thanks

Default Re: Umbrous x Umbrous

It depends on the parents. Umbrous is dominant so if both parents are UU then all will be Umbrous however if both parents are Uu then you will have 25% UU, 50% Uu and 25% uu.
All pups with the U gene will show Umbrous however the ones who get no U the uu group will not be umbrous.
You can't tell which are UU and which are Uu as they all look the same.
