Questionable Pet Store
Hello.
I have some questions and concerns about this pet store that my mom and I found today. It's a small business with seemingly only the owner working. It looked clean and organized. Even the cages for the various types of fish, birds, and hamsters were relatively clean.
The problem I had was that the hamsters (particularly the dwarf hamsters) were mating and I don't think they were being separated from males and females. There were several babies of different ages. Some were still completely PINK. I am very worried about the care of these hamsters. Is there anything I can do? Can I report this? Should I report this?
I was thinking that if I bought/adopted some of them that at least those would be going to a good home, but would I be perpetuating the mistreatment of the rest of the hamsters?

Re: Questionable Pet Store
Hello sandrininovaren25 and welcome to the forum. I can understand why you are concerned for these animals. I think you should report this pet store. If you are in USA then this link should help:
Rat & Mouse Gazette: How to Report a Pet Store
I am guessing you are in USA as you said pet store but I may be wrong. As to taking some of the animals yourself it would be a lot of expense and work for you so you may want to think about if you would be able to deal with that. They may even need vet treatment by the sounds of their living conditions.

Re: Questionable Pet Store
Hello and welcome to HC!
I assume that you are a minor. If yes, then first of all i would advise you to discuss this with your parents.
Adopting some of the hamsters wouldn't really solve the problem because the owner doesn't appear to have any knowledge about keeping hamsters.
As for reporting the pet shop. Yes, i think they should be reported and i'm very surprised that they able to operate like that.

Re: Questionable Pet Store
I wouldn't recommend adopting any of the hamsters. They would likely not give them for free, and therefore you'd be supporting their unethical care.
