How far along?
Hello everyone,
Just trying to get some input about a little preggos hamster. At least, we think she's pregnant.

The last time she was with a male was 10/17. She was being kept with what we think may be a brother (not sure because they were a rescue) I separated them immediately when I took them in, but she looked pregnant then (she was also severely underweight).
We assume she was pregnant because she's never had the "in heat" smell and her belly is rather pear shaped. We're trying to figure out how far along she might me. Any guesses?

Re: How far along?
Sorry but i have (luckily) no experience with pregnant hamsters so can't voice a guess.
I have recently rescued a male hamster in very similar circumstances who is skin and bones at the moment and severely underweight. I wonder if my scales are wrong.
What did the hamster in your care actually weigh when you rescued her?

She was around 130g but we knew she was pregnant so I'm pretty sure some of that was baby weight. Since then she's up to 220g. Some of that gain is baby weight but I'm sure some of that is just getting better food and nutrition.
If you want to test your scales weigh something you know the weight of! Also sometimes scales need fresh batteries to be accurate.

Yes, i did that but have now changed the batttery as well. The hamster weighed only 52g at around 3 months old when i rescued him.
Did you keep or foster the pregnant hamster? I thought that both were going to a rescue.
