The H-16 litter with eyes wide open
This litter is so fun. Pups have no fear of anything and are already climbing into my hands. They are now 18 days old, and sadly we lost a few at 7 days old when their nest got flooded by the bottle leaking out from their Mom building up the bedding and draining it out.
At that time we had 10 lovely pups, but one by one they disappeared. Godiva was very protective, and even moving them from the soaked nest with a spoon into a dry nest caused Godiva to grab a pup and run about the cage with it for many minutes.
Only 6 pups made it to 13 days and then one failed to make it to day 15. Vet saw the whole family at day 17 as the smallest pup was raspy sounding. He is being treated for and Upper Respiratory Infection and is showing some signs of improvement daily. He is however still not out of the woods.
The litter ended up some what of a surprise as even when there was 10 and they had begun to gain their fur coats it was very obvious there was not one silver gray anything in the nest. They do show that Godiva did gain her parents Black gene and Several had either the Band pattern, or Dominant Spot pattern and three had both Banded and Dominant Spot pattern.
Before the bottle accident I had two Black Tort Banded, one Satin Black Banded Dominant Spot, two Melanistic Yellow Banded, two satin Yellow Dominant Spot, one satin Black Dominant Spot, one Cream Masked Yellow Band, One Cream carrying Melanistic Yellow Band,
One Satin Cream Carrying Melanistic Yellow Band Male, One Cream Masked Yellow Band Female, one Cream carrying Melanistic Yellow Band Female, One Yellow Banded Dominant Spot Male, and one Satin Black Dominant Spot male have made it to day 18. The Yellow Banded Dominant Spot male is the one being treated for the URI the others are thriving and growing well.
I decided to rehomed Caleb in part because I want to remove cream from my yellows but also because I feel his Black Dominant Spot son far excels on him plus he is Black and has potential to not carry cream. Godiva will enjoy a good rest once the litter is weaned and I will decide if she will have a 2nd litter or if she too will be rehomed.
So with no further delay meet the H-16 litter in all their Glory.

He may be the runt but even with his URI he LOVES his kitten pate and really likes to get into his grub LOL. This is the Yellow Dominant Spot male during supper time.

So sad that you lost a few of this wonderful litter Nancy but the remaining pups are just gorgeous & sound like a lot of fun!
The little black male has completely won my heart, I always have a bit of a soft spot for runts too

Re: The H-16 litter with eyes wide open
LOL come on over the pond but best do it quickly as this country is in for some wicked times ahead sad to say.
I would actually enjoy a visit from my over seas friends and hey it would mean more hands to hold 5 pups who all want out at the same time with only two hands hehe.
With the coloring results it is either a very lucky draw of no Silver gray gene given or our Madame Godiva is not Sg. Talking with The owner of Brookside he is leaning heavily on the second posibility and with that lighter nose smudge thinking Godiva is actually a double hetero Extreme Dilute Golden Tortoiseshell which would make sense with what results I got with the litter.
She also was a single surviving pup from a female who came from the same place as the dam of Elkin my Double Het ED Chocolate male.
Caleb does not carry the ED gene nor the Dark Ear White gene for sure which is why no pups are/were any ED colors.

I'll help if you wanna rob a bank. It'll be quicker. 50/50 split?? :P Terrified of flying though, so I'm gonna need to spend a good portion of that on wine for the flight!

Lol. But I can't drink wine. I can always have some orange juice or a Sprite though.
