Re: Nibblette's 5
They eyes should be quite well opened before you post pics. The fact that she is moving the pups a lot is a bit worrying as it usually means they feel insecure. I would try and keep her very quiet and maybe put a shield round half the tub at least.
Just a blanket over it would do.
Give the pups another few days and don't upset mum with taking pics till they are more open. Don't use a flash on their delicate newly opened eyes either will you.

I thought of something fun. Let's guess the gender of the pups. I am going to guess 4 boys 1 girl. Looking forward to hearing your guesses
The babies are running mom ragged. She will put one back in the nest and two more will come out. She eventually gave up and started eating.
THIS IS MY 100th POST!

Re: Nibblette's 5
The pups and Mama had their cage cleaned yesterday. They also met their Daddy for the first time and they think he is their moving jungle gym. I will have pictures to follow.

Re: Nibblette's 5
They met their father?? How did they do that? Males can be put in with dad when they are separated from mum at three and a half to four weeks and he will normally accept them however I'm not sure why you would even think about it as young as this!!
Hamsters are not little people and don't have concepts of father and children. I hope he didn't meet mum. She may already be pregnant with a back to back litter if he wasn't removed before these were born. Make sure she doesn't get near him again and that the female pups don't either.

His cage is next to my bed and I had the temporary cage that mom and pups were in next to it. We were taking pictures of the pups (no flash) and Dad came over to the wall of the cage. I took him out and set him down near the pups and they ran over to him and he played with them for a little bit. He also did say hi to mom but we watched very closely to make sure we don't end up with more pups.
UPDATE 1- As best as I can tell, all the pups are boys. Now I have to make another bin cage for them when they go with their Daddy as his his cage is way to small for 6 hamsters.
UPDATE 2- One of the homes I had lined up fell through. Now I still have one possible home but they have not told me their decision. It appears I will be taking care of four pups for a while.

Re: Nibblette's 5
I am thinking the pups are old enough, mobile enough, and independent enough for me to put the wheel back in. Should I wait a little longer or put the wheel in?
