Apple is a Chinese hamster that I brought her home on the 3rd January. I knew that there was a possibility that she might be pregnant so I kept her on pregnancy watch.
I thought she gave birth on the 7th but after over two weeks when there was not a sign or squeak of any babies and I became convinced that she had either killed them or that she hadn't been pregnant at all. I think I made the mistake of giving her too much substrate which meant I wasn't exactly sure where her nest was.
On the 23rd I got her out of the cage for the first time and while I was holding her I could hear someone scrabbling from inside the cage. Then a pup ventured out with its eyes open, it gave me such a shock! She was certainly very secretive
