Re: Silver gray genetics
Thanks for covering me Jemmalg, after a while my fingers forget to hit the cap key
If I am understanding Vidasmiles question now they wish to have solid yellow Tort patches on a Black tort, and sadly the only way to get the bright orange tort without the melanistic Yellow patches would be to deliberately breed Non show standard Black Torts and add Cream or breed Dove Torts where the Honey Black patches would be a bright orange yellow and have no ticking. To deliberately add Cream to a Black Tort would be defeating the whole purpose of breeding Yellow as you always want to breed aimed to produce a show winner and Black Torts are not supposed to have solid Yellow patches.

Re: Silver gray genetics
I read this Post from the begining to the end. And I think I find it very helpful - starting from Sg gene and ending about colour of yellow patches in torts.
I read Nancy's comment and thought maybe I have one tort in my current litter . I think one of my girls is Silver Black Tort with the Ivory White Yellow patches (I put 2 photos, she is 5 weeks today):

The black spots looked very familiar to tort from the begining to me, but I could not find any yellow on it. And now I think she has some very pale, kinda a bit dirty white spots on the coat. What do you guys think? Of course the answer will be more clear when she will be 10 weeks old.

Re: Silver gray genetics
she may have the dark grey gene. The dark grey tort has smoke pearl patches of yellow. The colour of the tort depends on the base colour of the hamster.
So golden has Yellow patches, cinnamon has honey patches and dark grey has smoke pearl patches.
She could have melanistic smoke pearl patches!! It looks like there is something there combined with yellow.
Hamsters that have yellow on the face and head seldom show ticking in these areas because the hair is very short and it doesn't really show so you should look at the ticking on the body patches more to see the level of ticking on a tort.
