I look for a balanced head with eyes set wide apart, and not low on the face which gives a rat like look and shape to the head if eyes are closer and lower down the head. Ears I like to see the same distance apart from each other as the distance is from the tip of the ear down to the nose on the face. A correct head should measure the same distance from ear tip to ear tip and from ear tip to nose forming a equilateral Triangle.

I have to be very selective on the future generations as the Chocolate Hamsters I got to start a better quality Rust line all have narrow heads with eyes set quite low on the head often making them look very rat like.

Though this girl will not be used to any Chocolates because of her beyond any doubt carrying Cinnamon her future pups could be used to gain a Cinnamon clear offspring which can be used with offspring from the Chocolate Hamsters. With the Focused goal of producing a Chocolate (or Rust carrying Black) Hamster with the desired head and breeding out the undesired Rat like head.

Compare the head of Betja my Satin Black Female to Swiss Miss One of the Chocolate girls

I see what you mean now ty. I had noticed some hams were rat looking but hadn't realised why.
