Lotta´s Litter
Hi everyone,
Just wanted to share 2 photos from Lotta´s Litter. Everything is going very well and all 9 babies are alive and happy.
My only concern is that I can feel that Lotta is getting tired and fat Should I wait until 4 weeks to take the little ones to a seperate cage? Well that will be this Thursday so there is not such a long wait. Can I put the spinning wheel
back in now? Or wait until she is alone? What about when I put them in a seperate cage?
I feed them twice a day, I sometimes add a little for the night if everything is finished. Do I still feed them so much when I put them in a seperate cage?
All the best

Re: Lotta´s Litter
What a beautiful litter, well done you and of course the wonderful Lotta.
It's best to wait till Thursday to wean the pups, and yes you'll still be feeding them like when Lotta was with them. Baby Hamsters eat a lot. At 5 weeks it will be time to gender split the pups to prevent any matings of the pups. 6-8 weeks is time to let them go to new homes.

Re: Lotta´s Litter
They are totally gorgeous I think they are all silver greys there
I'd wait till they are 4 weeks then split them in to a tank of males and a tank of females. It's a nice group size as they should all have company and pups tend to do better with siblings to run on a bit at separation from the mum.
They never grow as fast as they are doing now so continue to be very generous with the food just as you are doing now. We feed like this till they go to new homes and I would say they will be ready to go singly at 6 weeks onwards as they look very nice and chunky. Also suggest the new owners feed some growing foods and fresh when they move on.
They usually start bickering about then anyway so watch out for this. Females will fall out sooner than males.
If anyone wants a pup for Christmas I would suggest you insist they take it ether before or after the big day as having on on actual Christmas day can be stressful for the baby.

Re: Lotta´s Litter
What beautiful pups! I don't have any advice that hasn't already been given, but I wanted to squee over them too ^.^
I gotta say, I'm really impressed with you and little Lotta. It's not uncommon for people to panic when a surprise litter arrives and do all the wrong things, but you have handled it beautifully. Hugs and hammy pats all around from me xx
