Default ... Cinnamon Fawn?

I've heard this coloration thrown about a few times on facebook groups, wondering what it is? I've tried googling, but not found really very much on what a cinnamon fawn is.

I assume it has cinnie (pp) in it, but what else? Any pictures? How is it different than a regular cinnie?

Are they refering to Syrians or to Campbell dwarf hamsters as there is a Fawn color in dwarf Hamsters which to my eyes looks like a Black eyed Argente with a haze of blue shading on the body. I've never heard the name fawn used with Syrians.

There's a blue fawn in Campbellls (currently a non-standard colour at NHC shows). There's no 'fawn' Syrian colour either standard or non-standard. Sometimes there can be a translation difference in colours between one language and another, sometimes people give try and give unusual names to colours rather than acknowledge that it's not a good example of the colour, e.g. 'snowflake' Chinese hamsters (brindled dominant spots).

They were referring to Syrians, which was why I was so confused. I knew fawn was around in Campbell's.

A quick google search ended up on a comment where cinnamon fawn was labelled as a rare/endangered Syrian colour? Apparently they were quoting the hamsterlopedia book, but I will say for sure I've never heard of this and certainly not in the UK.

I'd agree with Vectis and say it sounds like a translation gone wrong. I've seen that a lot on groups and them later being corrected.

On further looking at the handbook, I realise I was wrong In Appendix B (old colour standards) there is:

Quote:
CINNAMON FAWN (ppruru)
TOP COAT - Pastel orange carried approximately one third of the way down
BASE COLOUR - Light grey
BELLY FUR AND CRESCENTS - White
TICKING - Absent
CHEST BAND - Pastel orange
CHEEK FLASHES - Pale grey
EYE COLOUR - Ruby
EAR COLOUR - Flesh
NOTES: Adult males are infertile.
It's cinnamon and the ruby-eyed gene. I've not seen/heard of many hamsters with the ruby-eyed gene being around at the moment so a poor (from a standards point of view) cinnamon would be far more likely

Thank you both! Considering the person tossing it around isn't the uh, best breeder I know of (I think if you're breeding I shouldn't have to tell you your sable is sable...) so it's like just a cinnie.

Thank you both!
