Shiloh x Darissa

[Hekomi]

Darissa, from Nancy (ST's Hamstery) was mated to her gorgeous yellow male, Shiloh on August 27th. August 31st confirmed she took, and we expect the first intentional litter at Strong Brew late September 11th!

Darissa is a lovely black tort LH lady. She has had one previous litter and was a fantastic mum, giving all her long haired babies full coats and gorgeous temperaments. She is very calm and laid back, and happy to visit with SO and I despite being with us only 24hours. She will eat us out of our sunflower seeds!

Right now she's trying to nest under her water bottle, so I'm discouraging that and we appear to be running in circles... Hopefully she realises another corner is much more desirable.



Shiloh remains with Nancy, and is a wonderful boy himself! Very laid back and quite a good chunk of a ham!



We're hoping for some good sized babies from these two, as all our hams seem to be rather small. We hope what we want will pop up in the litter, but irregardless the babies will be fantastic and it will be lovely to watch them grow!

Darissa is certainly building quite the nest and hoard, and has the most gorgeous face that just makes me want to stock her up with more food (despite the very visible pile in the corner, hehe!).

They are so gorgeous! I love both of their coloring, but especially Shiloh! They are cute complementing colors though. Can't wait to see the babies!

Thanks! I'm hoping the pair will produce some yellow pups, alongside melanistic yellows, torts (of course) and solid blacks. Should be interesting to see what we end up with!

Darissa is black, but she's lightened up, as most blacks do.

Ohh so how do you get rust? I was thinking yellow was involved. Darissa has a pretty brownish color, even though she's black.

Rust is an agouti colour - it's basically black-eyed cinnamon. It's pretty rare in the US, so far on Brookside has it, and probably HHH, and AAA.

She is a lovely colour! If I didn't know better I'd wonder if she was chocolate. She's still nesting under her water bottle, so I may have to take more drastic measures.

I could get a chocolate from Brookside, but that would be more expensive than the gas money to get Oliver. lol

I'm hoping once we're established to ship up some hamsters from Brookside We'll have to see though.

I could try, but no hacks... and if I move it, I need more double sided velcro. I probably could but I'm hoping she just chooses a different corner.
