Default Syrian x Dwarf

I am part of a local pet group. Someone there is saying that they have a litter of hamsters where the mom is a dwarf and the dad is a syrian.

Is this at all possible??

I am trying to offer a bit of advice without coming across as so annoying that they don't listen. They said that since the babies were born, they have separated mom and dad, so I'm trying to explain that syrian hamsters must ALWAYS live in their own cages, both for the parents, and for the babies they are trying to give away... the whole destructive cycle will start again if they give a boy and girl baby to a new family to "live happily together".

It frustrates me so much to hear of so much hamster trouble... I do not understand how people can think it is okay to leave them together... they will fight terribly and be very stressed.

So is it possible for them to crossbreed? I'm thinking there might be even more to this story than what was presented, since I have never heard of them crossbreeding. (Although, it never should be a possibility! Arg!)

They are different species so they won't cross breed.
The ignorance out there never ceases to amaze me but all we can do is try to educate people & hope they'll listen I guess, good luck with that!

This was mentioned not so long ago and it was said that it is not genetically possible.

There was a woman on gumtree advertising 2 syrians for sale in the SAME cage, i quickly messaged her to tell her they should not be together and she changed the ad to 1 syrian. I hope the other went to a good home. It really is shocking how ignorant some people can be to the welfare of these little bundles of joy.

Some people are complete idiots. You don't necessarily need to spare their feelings, some people just need a telling off.

"Different species can't cross breed, that's why they're different species. P.s. You're stupid"
Alternatively reply with offers to trade one of her rare cross breeds for one of your new catdog Persian/chihuahua litter.

Thanks! It is sad, and I tried to be nice and mostly emphasize the fact that they can not live together with another hamster, but the owner seems to have already shut down. She says that EVERY website and the pet store she talked to cannot be wrong... others were questioning the fact that she was going to give them to new homes at 3 weeks... I said 4-5 weeks is standard for reputable breeders, but tried to stress the importance of NOT putting them together!

Did she say what websites she used? She can't be telling the truth, it takes less than 5 minutes online to contradict everything she's saying. I wouldn't be surprised about the pet stores...
