Introducing our pregnant dwarf
Jew bought angel 16 days ago and she has obviously come to us pregnant as she is very noticeably pregnant now. Thinking she is now very near to giving birth, she has been very busy today collecting food and fussing around in her nest. Since she is probably still quite young and this will be her first litter I am aware of all the things that can go wrong and know the litter may not survive but have been doing lots and lots of research over the past few days so that I know as much as I can and have had her on a pregnancy diet for about 5 days now (since I first suspected pregnancy)
Thankfully she was a slightly older dwarf when we got her, about 10 weeks so she is probably now a little over 3 months old.
This isn't the first time this has happened to me, we had a Syrian hamster 8 years ago that gave birth to 9 lovely pups 5 days after I bought her and had no idea she was pregnant until I discovered the pups. Thankfully she was a great mum and all 9 pups grew into healthy young hamsters. Hoping for same outcome this time round as although it's not what I want it is lovely watching them grow.

It's good to know she's not a real youngster. I am sure she will be fine at that age.
Hope all goes well for Angel.

Re: Introducing our pregnant dwarf
Thanks guys. Yes she was originally purchased and then returned to the pet store a couple of weeks later as the people could no longer look after her so this is why she was a little older than what they are usually sold at in pets shops. Is say she was at least 12 weeks old now.
Just keeping my fingers and toes crossed that all goes well. We are away on holiday on Monday so would like the babies to appear either tonight or tomorrow night but at least she will have a week of total peace and quiet with her babies and just my father in law nipping in to feed her
