Probably culled, and I would never have known anything about it They told me the male had died of old age when I asked and that's why they wanted to get rid of her, because she didn't have a "partner". I wouldn't be surprised though if that isn't quite the truth.

Re: Guess I felt left out...
If the male died of old age... I know they're able to mate late in life but maybe there's a hope yet? Phantom pregnancy?
I can't wait to see pics.

Re: Guess I felt left out...
She has burrowed herself about 6 inches beneath the surface and I can only just see a patch of fur through a small hole. She has also removed every speck of the food I put down for her. I won't disturb her right now just for pictures

Re: Guess I felt left out...
Hrmmm... what are you feeding her? I'd recommend what I did with Java, and feed her a pregnancy diet JUST in case.
We did lots of fresh veg, baby food with chicken, sunflower seeds, Harlan Tekland (though we feed that normally), milk soaked in bread and eggs. She loved it and gobbled it up.
Any idea how old she is?
ETA: NM re-read, she's 4 months which isn't too bad.

Re: Guess I felt left out...
As of last night only lots of hamster food with additions of extra nuts and seeds. I didn't want to give her anything watery in case I upset her tummy with everything else that was going on. I'm probably going to boil eggs for breakfast (farm fresh from the neighbours!) and offer some of that, plus I picked up 4 jars of dinner-type baby foods just a few days ago. I must have known
I was told she's 4 months old.

Re: Guess I felt left out...
Oh perfect! You're all set. Four months isn't a bad age, she's probably not completely full grown, but at least she's not still a baby.
If you were closer (aka not across the country, lol!) I'd offer to help out.

Re: Guess I felt left out...
Thanks Hekomi You can hold my hand virtually!
I tried to get a picture of her just a few minutes ago but she wouldn't move from her nest and all I could get was a very blurry closeup of her gorgeous pink nose:

Re: Guess I felt left out...
Dawwwh what a sweet nose. Could try a treat lure out? I'm sure she's scared, but hopefully she warms up quick. If she's pregnant, she may not though (that was our worry with Java). Maybe when she wakes up this evening you'll have a better chance at grabbing a shot.
