Does our lady look pregnant?

Yeah, she only appears stocky to me. I think it's just haunches, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. She's never frozen for me when being stroked but she is still not super tame. She doesn't really sit still and doesn't quite like hands.

We don't have a male Syrian in the house, just three male dwarfs.

She's made a huuuuuge stash of food in her house, so I guess time will tell. I will be relieved to cross this off my calendar once the next few days are over!

So my little lady surprised me again this morning.

I heard a noise at 4:30am which prompted investigation. I went to go check on her, and lo and behold, squiggly jellybeans in the cage. I didn't count them on advice from Xelay, but they were there.

The noise was in fact one of the boys, but I noticed her water bottle had fallen, so I had to very unobtrusively go in, fetch the water bottle, take out the damp bedding (it leaked all over the corner) and then replace it. She didn't seem bothered by it and just stayed in her nest, which was good, but I couldn't leave her without water and with a very damp section of bedding.

After that I added some more food to her dish (some got wet too, and thrown out) and left quietly.

She's fine now, and still with the wriggly jellybeans. There aren't a lot of them (okay, maybe I kinda did count, but I'm trying not to think about it just in case) so it's definitely a small litter.

Surprises all around. Will keep you guys updated!

Wow!!! That is kinda awesome and quite a huge surprise!! I didn't think it would happen with her not really showing. Hoping she and the little ones do well!!

Yeah I was thinking we were home clear as she was doing water bottle acrobatics last evening (which explains the water bottle fiasco). I'm out until this afternoon, but all of the babies are gathered into her nest now. She's done a pretty good job hiding them, but I can see the little wiggles. They don't seem to be noisy, but that may change as the day goes on.

I forget how you got her in the first place and how she got mixed up with a male(s)? What type of place was she rescued from? They just didn't sex the hamsters properly?

She was from a lady who basically had her own accidental batch, but she had a /ton/ of hamsters. She was in a small box with other females, as far as I could tell. Smelled bad, hamsters were cramped, and I'm sure she must not have sexed them properly. So... it's probably an oopsie with her brother, but I'm going to pretend that a male swooped in and wooed her with his fluff and she fell into his arms dreamily.
