17 days since syrian hamster mated.
Hi, my syrian hamster mated 17 days ago but no babies have come yet.
she has made her nest and is always fussing with it and she does have
lumps on her hips. She isn't super big but the lumps weren't there
before the mating. Do you think she's pregnant and is there still time for her
to give birth?

She definitely looks pregnant to me. They normally give birth overnight in the early hours, so you need to leave her in peace and quiet, and try not to disturb her.
Best of luck for a safe delivery.

yes she does look pregnant. I've heard of them going 18 days but if nothing shows at 18 days then I think you should see a vet as there may well be a stuck pup and she will become very ill if she cannot deliver them. Fingers crossed for tonight.

Oh yes, she's pregnant, and ready to pop. You may have babies tonight. Hope she's okay. Let us know how she does

Still no babies she is still fussing with her bed lots. She still looks like she has these lumps when she moves a certain way. should i just wait another day?

Re: 17 days since syrian hamster mated.
If she is very agitated or has any bloody discharge I would see a vet as she may have a stuck pup. She looks quite large to me in that picture. If she isn't expecting then there is something wrong which could either be a stuck pup as I mentioned or a pyometra in the womb if full of pus but at this stage if it was that I would expect her to be much more unwell.
What time exactly was the actual mating and what date?

Re: 17 days since syrian hamster mated.
The mating was on the 5th march at around half 7 at night. She doesn't seem poorly she just seems to tidy her bed lots. If she comes out she covers it up again.thanks for your help.

If the pups haven't arrived yet I think it would be a great idea to take the chance to get that fluffy bedding out of there!

Re: 17 days since syrian hamster mated.
I had a similar experience with a well girl who went past her due day and was very round with no discharge. I took her to the vet and she was diagnosed with a phantom pregnancy. Unfortunately over the following week she became less active and more subdued and the phantom had become a pyometra/womb infection. She was successfully spayed (which confirmed the pyo rather than any pups) and lived until a grand old age. If she is still round when the vet opens tomorrow then I would suggest getting her seen to be checked and keeping a close eye for signs that she is different to usual.
I hope all goes well for her.
