Male or female dwarf hamsters? Pictures included (not very clear)
Hey everyone (:
I got my two new dwarf hammys on Saturday, Gimli and Gizmo. We haven't been able to sex them as they've been settling in. My boyfriend had a quick look at Gizmo and thought she was a girl but we couldn't check Gimli and he/she was very shy.
Today I decided to put them in a clear cup and have a look. And now I feel like Gizmo could possibly be a boy, I will put some pics below but they're not very clear as the little on kept riggling around. I looked at Gimli too and I'm none the wiser. I'm worried that they're gonna be opposite sex and I'll have to seperate them ): as they're really happy together and I like them to have a friend.
Ino these pictures are next to useless but maybe there's some experts on here that could help me (:
Gizmo also has a bigger bum than Gimli and is slightly larger on size.
Here is Gizmo
Here is Gimli
Thanks in advance (:

I'm fairly sure that Gizmo is a male. I'm not so sure on Gimli to be honest, in the first photo I'd say female but the second I'd say male lol

I think In the first pic of Gimli you could see the line extending word his/her tummy, that's what I based my guess off of. It is harder to tell on that one!

Gizmo does look to be male. There is a wide gap between the vents. The other pics as less clear so I can't really say from those. If they need separated then they will be just fine alone so don't worry about that.

Re: Male or female dwarf hamsters? Pictures included (not very clear)
Thanks everyone for all your replies (: sorry the pictures of Gimli aren't very clear, this little one is still very hard to handle and gets very shy around me and my boyfriend. Anyone know how I can get little Gimli out easier and build more of a trust bond?
Thanks for the replies of Gizmo it is definitely confirmed that he's a little boy (: a very confident little one too very proud of him (:
Thanks everyone, and if anyone has any advice on Gimli that would be helpful as stated before it's hard to have a play because the little one is shy and not easy to pick up and handle.
Thanks a lot in advance (:

Re: Male or female dwarf hamsters? Pictures included (not very clear)
If you definitely do not want babies, and you want to be absolutely sure of their sexes, make an appointment with a vet, telling the office that you just want your hammies sexed. This way you'll also be able to meet a vet before any illnesses happen. If you need the vet in future, he or she will know your pets, and you will be comfortable with the vet. Hammies can get pregnant really quickly, so I'd do this now.

Out of interest do you know how much this trip to the vets would cost in the uk for this service? Money isn't a problem but I was just wondering out of interest (:
Thanks (:

Re: Male or female dwarf hamsters? Pictures included (not very clear)
When I take my hammies to the vet for nail clipping they charge me $20.00 USA. It shouldn't be much more than that and might be less.
