No problem. We are only too happy to help. The more knowledge that can be spread about, the better.

Hope everything is going well. How old is the mother by the way?
Just curious as she may be getting stressed out a bit because of being a first time mother, not sure though its just a thought I had.

Also how is Dad doing on his own now?
Keep us updated

Ah, I'm sure I read something which applied that but it never seemed to click. It was just a thought.

Thanks Jess.

Yeah thats right...I thought I had Mother (Autumn) and Daughter (Winter) but clearly it is actually Mother and Son!

So these babies are unexpected but also not ideal as Mother and Son is now Mother and Father!! So it is not Autumns first litter, her first litter was a small litter of 2, unfortuantely one pup didnt make it and the remaining is Winter.

Autumn is now approx 7 months old so I worry about her and how much she has been through already in her life! Winter is now just over 3 months old so again very young to now be a Daddy!!

Winter hasn't coped so well with being removed from Autumn and his home and put in a cage of his own. He has been less active and not eating as much, but I am hoping he just needs time to settle down. I am monitoring him closely and making sure he is still eating and drinking something. Depending on how many pups and what sex the pups are, he might eventually get one of his boys to share his home with so he is not on his own...but still no idea on size of the litter.

Autumn and the pup/s had a quiet night, which I guess means they all must be very happy in the nest, but it leaves me awake a lot in the night lying very still and listening for those little squeaks to reassure me that they are ok!! I am definitely feeling sleep deprived but I know it will all be worth it if it all works out in the end.

I am still relatively confident that there is only 1 or 2 pups as Autumn was not showing at all, even the day it happened and the squeaks from the nest don't appear to be coming from many little mouths! But I have been warned by a few people now that the noise from pups can be very deceiving in that you may only be hearing one or two at a time as the others are happily sleeping or with mum....so I am very excited to find out how many there actually are when they start venturing out.

Nikkigrace, you aren't kidding, it can be deceiving. The hammy shown as my avatar is Sandy Bear. In that photo she is only about 3 days away from delivering 16 healthy pups who all survived. She was a marvel. Hers was a planned pregnancy. I can't wait to see yours.
